Conclusion

Blacks are inky, viewing angles are good and the contrast is excellent. And the huge screen real estate makes it a fine choice for general productivity and colour-accurate work.

iiyama goes after monitors in a big way, quite literally, with the 40in X4071UHSU. Equipped with a 4K panel, the sheer size is a good fit for the 3,840x2,160 resolution, with Windows 10 scaling working well enough.

Blacks are inky, viewing angles are good and the contrast is excellent. And the huge screen real estate makes it a fine choice for general productivity and colour-accurate work.

Heck, playing games is also enjoyable thanks to a more than reasonable input lag and massive screen... as long as your graphics card can drive the 4K requirement. And that little remote is rather handy, too.

All fantastic then? There are some foibles, notably a lack of adjustment on the fixed-position feet and some darkening in the right-hand corner. If you can live with that, this is a good monitor for big-screen spills and thrills.

The Good

The Bad
It's massive
Good black-level performance
Impressive Delta-E once calibrated Solid value at £450
Handy remote control

Lack of physical adjustment
Luminance uniformity not great

I'd love to see how this compares to say, an LG or Samsung 4K TV.
How is the uniformity when compared to the BDM4065UC?
The Philips BDM looks nicer than this and is only £50 dearer (£499) on Amazon.
For the price it looks very good but after seeing the luminescence test I'd want to see one in the flesh 1st I think.
Mind you, never bothered about it in any monitor I've owned before.

Yeah this is what always gets me. When buying TVs I NEVER look at them in a showroom, because you get tripped up in the comparison of greater beasts. Once you've got it at home you get used to it
