Benchmarks III
On to Comanche 4, run at 1024x76832The more you can feed the quad-pumped P4, the better the performance.
Now on to UT2003 demo's in-built benchmark at 800x600. It's an average of 2 flybys and 2 bot matches. UT2003 is sensitive to bandwidth.
And now the bot matches.
We're looking at a 5%+ improvement from using PC2700 memory and this module of Corsair at 222MHz, both at the same timings. That kind of increase is usually reserved for a change up to the next grade of processor.
Very few games illustrate the effects of bandwidth more graphically than Quake 3. Run at 512 fastest to make it a pure bandwidth benchmark. It reacts superbly well to changes in timings and available bandwidth.
Super-fast RAM and tight timings leads to one of the highest results yet. All this from a processor only clocked at 2830MHz. We gain over 12% in FPS terms by simply running faster memory, amazing.
