Final thoughts and rating

The Thecus N2200XXX is one of the best-performing two-bay NAS solutions we've ever tested.

Armed with a 1.8GHz dual-core Intel processor and DDR3 memory, it's able to hit read and write speeds in excess of 100MB/s, and combines excellent performance with a strong set of features that make it suitable for home or office use.

Sure, the user interface can feel a little rough around the edges, but few two-bay NAS servers offer this blend of performance and functionality.

The £350 price tag might limit its appeal to power users, and yes you could build your own server for less, but if you're in the market for a high-powered out-the-box solution that's quick to setup and easy to maintain, Thecus's N2200XXX should be on your shortlist.

The Good

Excellent performance
Brimming with features
Easy setup

The Bad

User interface feels rough around the edges
Fan can be noisy

“First and foremost, the V5 Firmware offers support for the EXT4 file system and 3TB hard disks - giving the two-bay N2200XXX a heightened maximum capacity of up to 6GB.”

You mean 6Tb ?
^ 6Tb = 768 GigaBytes, so still not correct.

A lowercase ‘b’ = bits, while an uppercase ‘B’ = Bytes
Great little NAS box, I have one configuration with 2 x 1TB drive in Raid 1 to store and protect my music , small and powerful I would recommend.
