Final thoughts and rating

Knowing that the SandForce SF-2281 processor is an excellent performer, the speed on offer from the 240GB SanDisk Extreme SSD shouldn't come as a surprise - the drive was always going to be lightning quick and it doesn't disappoint.

What makes this model particularly attractive, however, is the aggressive £155 price tag. We're big advocates of solid-state storage devices, but while the performance advantage has always been evident, only now are these high-end drives beginning to offer what some consumers would class as anywhere near good value for money.

If you're looking to give your PC a new lease of life or you're itching to experience the boost in responsiveness that only an SSD can provide, the 240GB SanDisk Extreme should be high on your shopping list. It is, in our estimation, one of the very best single-component upgrades an enthusiast user can make.

Bottom line: All-time-low pricing has made SanDisk's Extreme SSD even more alluring. We now see every reason to at least consider a solid-state upgrade, but we suppose one lingering question remains; prices have tumbled, but how low can they go?

The Good

Excellent all-round performance
Relatively-high capacity
Enticing price tag

The Bad

Basic bundle; no disk migration software or 3.5in adaptor

I'm so glad prices are getting this low, this is without a doubt the best performance product you can buy for your pc in this day and age…
Had one of these for a couple of months now and have been very impressed with the drive. (Not impressed that its over £50 cheaper than when I bought it already though but great news for others).

I went for that one based on the strength of the 120GB review on Hexus knowing that the extra mem chips would make it even faster. Got the 120GB one for my girlfriend as she was on a bit more of a budget.

The other deciding factor was that it uses Toggle Mode NAND and to get that in any other SSD is a considerable premium.
The Samsung 830 256gb has dropped a fair few pounds in price today as well. Let the price wars begin!
I have never bought any SSD for myself ever. Maybe now that prices are going down and down, I can get to try buying one of this SanDisk SSD!
Think i might get myself a smaller sized one for my HTPC
