Mobile network operator Three has embarked on a novel marketing campaign to bring attention to its MiFi mobile broadband hotspot product.

Starting in London today, people covered in some kind of white body-suit will be walking around, freaking-out members of the general public. They will also have MiFi devices with them that will allow said punters, once they've recovered their composure, to access mobile broadband should they choose to.

For those not already familiar with them MiFi devices act like a mobile phone with tethering capability - the difference being they're standalone dongles. So they show up like a regular Wi-Fi hotspot to your device, but they grant Internet access via the Three 3G mobile network.

"Three's 3G network was designed for the mobile internet, so we can give people the very best online experience with their mobile gadgets," said Three marketing manager Matthew Halfin. "This will be particularly important over the Christmas period as a third of people head online with their new mobile toys."

Three also did a spot of research on where people use their mobile devices most, which you can see below followed by a photo of one of the ‘human hotspots'. They will be moving to Cardiff on 26 November, Bristol the next day, Nottingham on 4 December and and finish up in Newcastle on 11 December.

O_o more people use their mobiles on the toilet than in the bathroom? Where are these people going to the toilet?
