Titles 6-10
6. Star Trek XI
Release date: 26th December 2008
Official website: http://www.startrek.com/startrek/view/series/MOV/011/index.html
What you need to know: Star Trek starts over. The last few movies have disappointed, badly. Not since First Contact has a Star Trek movie really impressed. J.J. Abrams hopes to change that however as he directs an entirely new Star Trek cast.
7. Cloverfield
Release date: 1st February 2008
Official website: http://www.cloverfieldmovie.com/
What you need to know: The interwebs have been buzzing with hype for this one too. Not much is known just yet, but a teaser has shown a giant explosion in New York city, the Statue of Liberty without a head and all sorts of doomsday action. What more could anyone ask?
8. Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince
Release date: 21st November 2008
Official website: N/A
What you need to know: Harry Potter returns to the big screen once again. 2007's Order of the Phoenix was arguably Potter's best outing to date and we'll look forward to seeing if that can be topped.
9. Aliens vs Predator: Requiem
Release date: 18th January 2008
Official website: http://www.avp-r.com/
What you need to know: Aliens vs Predator was an average movie, it didn't quite live up to expectations but yet we still found ourselves enjoying seeing Aliens and Predators on screen at the same time. Early next year, we get to see them again and though we're still dubious about the movie as a whole, a Predalien hybrid species is enough to get this flick on our list.
10. Righteous Kill
Release date: 2008
Official website: N/A
What you need to know: Robert De Niro and Al Pacino return to the big screen together as two veteran New York city detectives hunting down a vigilante. Sounds ever so slightly clichéd, but De Niro and Pacino back together? We're sold already.
There we have it. Our pick of 10 movies we think are definitely worth seeing at the cinema in 2008. Which, if not all, of these will you definitely be seeing? Which movies do you think should have made our list? As always, you can share your thoughts and join the discussion in the HEXUS community.
