London, 1st December 2010: Sky today confirms AVATAR, the biggest grossing film in cinematic history, will be given its 3D TV world premiere this Christmas Eve when it is broadcast on Sky 3D (channel 217) at 8pm*. Sky 3D is available to all Sky+HD customers who have a 3D TV and Sky’s top TV package**.
James Cameron’s blockbusting 3D epic joins an exciting line up of some of the biggest and best sports, movies and entertainment programmes which will be shown on Sky’s 3D channel over the festive season.
Sir David Attenborough’s Flying Monsters 3D a ground breaking documentary about the evolution of pterosaurs - flying vertebrates with a wingspan of up to 45 feet that lived 200 million years ago - written and presented by natural history broadcaster Sir David Attenborough will premiere on Christmas day.
The Prince’s Trust Rock Gala 3D, the music extravaganza which took place in November at The Royal Albert Hall sees artists including; Tom Jones, Eric Clapton and Brian May perform some of their classic hits all captured in 3D, to be shown on 19th December.
Tim Burton’s visually stunning and enchanting Alice in Wonderland will be broadcast on New Years Eve and from 6th January for the first time ever Sky 3D will exclusively broadcast all three of Disney/Pixar’s Toy Story films in 3D: Toy Story 3 3D will be available pay-per view and Toy Story 1 & 2 at no extra cost.
On New Years Day Diversity 3D will follow the dance troupe as they prepare for their sell out Diversitoys show at Hammersmith Apollo and brings their outstanding talents to life in fans living rooms in full 3D glory.
3D viewers will also be able to enjoy some of the biggest clashes of the season with live Barclays Premier League matches played over Christmas including; Chelsea vs Manchester United (19th December) Man City vs Everton (20th December) Arsenal vs Chelsea (27th December) and Liverpool vs Wolves (29th December).
