PRESS RELEASE

Sky+ is making it even easier for customers to find their favourite shows with the latest update to the Sky+HD box. The new search functionality, which is being rolled out to customers over the coming months, lets them search by title, actor, event, channel, sport or any key word to find anything from award-winning drama or comedy to the next UEFA Champions League game.

The updated Search uses technology that collates results based on real-time searches across the nation. It means customers can expect the most recent and on-trend suggestions at the top of their searches. The powerful search functionality is already available on the Sky+ app.

Features of enhanced Search:

  • Quicker and easier results than ever before- Suggestions are automatically generated as customers type, reducing the time to find what they are looking for; the technology aims to get the correct suggestion within typing 3 characters, 70% of the time.
  • Can't recall the exact title ofthat show?- Customers only have to search for the first part of the title, an acronym, sport, event or who was in it. For example Spurs will return games for Tottenham Hotspur, while searching for Tom Cruise will generate movies that he stars in that are on Sky Movies and other channels.
  • Choose what to watch when it suits them- Results are from both On Demand and live TV meaning customers can watch latest episodes immediately using On Demand, record the programme to watch later with Sky+ or get straight into the action if it's a live event.

Luke Bradley-Jones, Brand Director, TV Products, comments:

"With our enhanced Search we are making it even easier to find shows and movies you love, as well as discovering exciting new titles in an intuitive and faster way. We know that Sky+ is used by customers millions of times a day to record anything and everything. With hundreds of TV channels, the UK's biggest Catch Up TV service, a growing collection of TV Box Sets and thousands of movies to rent from Sky Store, we know it can sometimes be hard to find exactly what you're looking for. Our new Search means you can find just what you want even if you only know the actor's name.'

To get ready for the software update and enhanced search, Sky customers just need to connect their Sky+HD box to their home broadband. If a customer is not connected to their home broadband they will just have the basic search which only allows searching by exact programme title. For further information visit: sky.com/skyplus.

Sky's On Demand service is available at no extra charge to all customers who have connected their Sky+HD box to their broadband connection. The on demand content available depends on a customer's subscription. TV box sets are available at no extra cost for customers with either an HD subscription, or the Entertainment Extra+ TV package. Catch Up TV services are available to UK customers only.
