Sky has today confirmed that E4 HD, Channel 4's second high-definition channel, will launch exclusively on the Sky HD service on Monday December 14th.
The channel, a simulcast of E4, will offer shows such as Hollyoaks, Peep Show and Misfits in high-definition for Sky's 1.6 million Sky+HD subscribers.
Slotting in at number 215 on Sky's electronic programme guide and available as part of the HD Pack, E4 HD will take the total number of HD channels available on Sky's premium service up to 36.
Hilary Perchard, Sky’s director of product management welcome the addition of "another quality HD schedule", adding that Sky has "never seen higher demand for Sky+HD".
"This is a response to delivering customers a high-quality and wide-ranging selection of subscription HD programming. Incorporating an increasingly diverse mix of the channels and programmes our customers love, Sky continues to extend its HD leadership", said Perchard in a statement.
Looking ahead, Sky has reaffirmed its ambition to introduce a "comprehensive" video-on-demand service in 2010, along with the launch of the broadcaster's first 3D TV services.
