Multiplayer modes, Crusade,Warfare, Deathmatch, Team Deathmatch and CTF
MULTIPLAYER MODE
Multiplayer will consist of two factions, the humans and the undead, with the only difference being the overall look of the characters. You’ll be able to choose between 5 classes which boast approximately 50 skills between them, with some being upgradeable.
There are currently five multiplayer modes planned, deathmatch, team deathmatch, warfare mode( conquest) and crusade. We can also now confirm that there will also be capture the flag and a few more surprises, which they are currently keeping tight-lipped about - the swines!
Crusade Mode
Game designer,Julien Roby, told us that Arkane Studios wanted to ‘create a big battle feeling’ that focuses on territorial control over the immense region of Ashan. There are 5 maps available in multiplayer and, during Crusade mode, these maps are linked as one overall region. It’s a tug of war battle as the Undeads go head to head with the humans to gain crucial territory. If your team win the first map, Border Keep, then you’ll advance further into the opposition’s territory.
Each area consists of territories marked out with flags and it’s simply a matter of standing in the circle surrounding the flags in order to gain that territory. Once a team has captured all of these positions the game has been won, or alternatively you can set a time limit, otherwise the game may never end!
There are 5 maps for a reason. Border keep is set in an ancient ruin and is neutral territory. If, for example, you’re playing on the side of the humans and win this first map, the dynamic map loading system will then load Nelsham’s scar map, an area that guards the entrance to the undead realm. If the Undeads win, you’ll move to Vradek’s Crossing, which moves you closer to the human's base. It’s a tug of war battle which can see you going backwards as well as forwards depending on which team wins on each map.
After each map you'll get to keep the skill points that were acquired through kills, which means by the time you're three maps into the game many people would have unlocked plenty of upgradeables, so the final battle for control should be pretty spectacular. Unfortunately, we didn't have the opportunity to play this game mode, but we're already wetting our pants with excitement.
Anyone whose played online multiplayer first person shooters will be familiar with the deathmatch, team deathmatch and capture the flag scenarios. In case you don't, deathmatch involves killing as many players as possible, team deathmatch will feature up to two teams of 16 battling it out for the most kills and captuire the flag will involve two teams each who have a flag; the objective is to capture the other team's flag, located at the team's "base", and bring it back to their own base.
Warfare mode is similar to Battlefield's "Conquest" mode and involves a battle for control. The ultimate objective of "Conquest" is to reduce the opposing team's "tickets", an indicator of how many respawns are available to that team. Once a team's ticket count reaches zero, the other team wins the round. Teams can speed up the loss of the other team's tickets by capturing objectives, depicted as flags in the game.
So, it's pretty much a standard set of game modes apart from Crusade mode. We'll bring you details on the further additions as soon as we know!
