Ready for the next insalment of Championship Manager? Arguably, the greatest football management simulation will be back for another outing next year, with an improved graphical makeover and a complete engine overhaul.

Eidos and Beautiful Game Studios will once again be at the helm and this time around they claim that Championship Manager 09 will give mangers a "true feeling of ‘total control’ over their teams and clubs."

Championship Manager 09 will sport dramatically improved navigation for the user and the game features an entirely new fully animated 3D match engine. Designed and developed to reflect and enhance a management experience, the engine uses over 500 motion-captured animations per player and has been built and developed specifically for a PC football management simulation.

“We have a whole host of new features which we’re incredibly proud of,” said Roy Meredith, General Manager of Championship Manager. “This is a new beginning for the Championship Manager franchise and we are 100% focused on getting it right, that’s why we have had a longer development time than any previous version of the game.”

“This is our opportunity to give consumers a reason to believe in Championship Manager once again,” continued Meredith. “After 4 years of mid-table mediocrity, we’re making great strides to become genuine title contenders. We want everyone to test this out by trying the demo which is out in March. Try the demo and make up your own minds.”

Championship Manager 09 is due for release in April 2009. Just don't tell the missus.

Gonna be interesting to see how this stacks up against football manager 2009 the true footy management sim :D
I couldnt remember if Champ was the good one or not, since all the name-change doo-dadery a few years back.
champ used to be good, then the devs went to make football manager and the series plummeted
Eidos Decided they didnt need SIgames so took the name and SIgames took the database.

EIDOS set up their own studio to make the game whilst SIGames carried on and managed to get the Name football manager as a nod to the original footy management game back on the c64. Now Sigames keep brining out great games with Sega behind them whilst EIDOS have struggled a bit of late.

Football manager 2009 should be out in the next few weeks and also has a 3d enginer and lots of cool features :D Suffice to say I`ll be wasting a huge chunk of my life playing it again hehe
Can't wait till FM09, used to play Champ Man till the big split, have never played since.

The 3D engine should revolutionise the game i reckon. Can't wait to get Luton Town into the Prem!
