CCTV for Wii and DS
Well,we've been waiting with baited breath for the remake of the original Sensible World of Soccer to make it's debut on the Xbox live arcade and Windows, but despite the promise that it should be making an appearance this month, there's still no sign. The game's original designer,Jon Hare, who was one of the two founder members and directors of Sensible Software, one of the most successful European games development companies of the late '80s and '90s and the brainchild behind the wacky soccer game.While we've been looking forward to remake of Jon's classic, he's been extremely busy designing his latest title and he hopes will capture the imagination of gamers once more Jon Hare is now Nikitova Games' Director of Development and today he has announced his first 'truly original game' since the 1990s.
According to the official site, CCTV, is a game where the player assumes the role of a surveillance officer using Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) and police cars to catch petty criminals and most-wanted criminals alike. The player's aim is to clean up the streets of his city by finding his suspects and nailing them in this fast-paced, humorous game of observation, identification & interrogation. The game is designed to be played as either a single player, as two players co-operatively or as 2 players competing against one another.
CCTV is due for release at Christmas 2008.
Since the sale of Sensible Software to Codemasters in 1999, Hare has worked as a consultant games designer on numerous titles including Mike Tyson Heavyweight Boxing, Frontline Command, Real World Golf and Sensible Soccer 2006, and as co-owner of development company Tower Studios on a number of mobile games titles including Cannon Fodder, Sensible Soccer, and International Rugby 7s.
From the same studio comes Mind Games for Wii and DS, a brain training style game with a scientific twist as it is endorsed by a Professor of Neurological Psychology at Cambridge University.
Mind Games is a selection of 21 mini games based upon the Cambridge Neuropsychological Test Automated Battery (CANTAB) of computeribrainzed tests used in science and medicine in 500 institutes and hospitals in 50 countries worldwide, to analyze the performance and activity of various areas of the brain
Just like CANTAB, Mind Games provides mental challenges in the areas of concentration, learning and memory, as well as analyzing executive functions such as planning problem solving and strategic working memory. Mind Games will use the results of the games you play to analyze the performance of your brain in a scientifically proven way.
It has been proven that keeping your mind active with mentally challenging activities as you age can help to increase resilience and reduce the risk of cognitive impairment.
Mind Games is being developed for both Nintendo Wii and DS, allowing one or two players of any age to have fun while they are learning.
