According to The IBC Daily, the show's own newspaper, Dr Abe Peled, a News Corp main board director and president of NDS - is dismissive of many would-be IPTV solutions suppliers, including Microsoft.
Peled is quoted as stating, "Some we read about at IBC for the first time, or they're like Microsoft, well-known to us. NDS' IPTV solution is differentiated from Microsoft in only one way: ours works. Television is an experience that does not permit messages like 'please wait: system rebooting', or 'Virus Alert'."
He also highlighted the potential for TV over mobile phones, saying, "I am sure people will catch up with the latest soap opera on their way to work".
And, underlining the big money that's at stake in the various ways of delivering TV programming, he added, "Over the next five years, the key question is the role of broadband and whether it will run alongside satellite and cable, coexisting, augmenting - replacing them? Tens of billions of dollars depend on getting these decisions right."
