Though a new PS3 Slim model hasn't even been confirmed by Sony, it's rumoured that the company has signed agreements with Taiwanese-based companies, Foxconn and Pegatron, to build the new console in July.

A report by Chinese-language site Economic Daily News (UDN.com,) translated via Engadget, claims that the two companies have received half of the manufacturing order each and will begin shipping the console in July to "to cope with expected summer vacation demands."

This ties in with reported rumours that the PS3 slim will ship in Western territories in the Autumn.

Foxconn Electronics has issued a filing with the Taiwan Stock Exchange declining to comment on the rumour due to 'customer confidentiality.'

Oh no. I curse Sony for their exclusive nabbing and tatics.

But as far as hardware goes it would be tempting.

But no, bad Sony. Bad.
well I was going to buy a PS3 this month, now I won't be just incase this is true.
Ive been holding out for the Slim version, although with Sony's recent pricing logic this will cost less to manufacture but cost £100 more due to its “premium” image.
I didn't think they would, But I'm thinking i was wrong. I too was holding out.
Ah cool. Was going to buy another PS3 next month for upstairs, think i will hold out a little longer for this now :)
