Sucker Punch's critically acclaimed open-world action adventure, inFamous, which features a super-hero with electrically-charged powers, is to be adapted for the big screen, claims The Hollywood Reporter.

Screenwriter Sheldon Turner, who is currently working on a spin-off to the X-Men films, X-Men Origins: Magneto, has been given a seven figure sum by Sony Pictures to adapt the videogame for the movies.

Avi Arad and Ari Arad, who have worked on a number of super-hero movies, including Incredible Hulk, Iron Man and The Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer, have been tasked with producing the film.

"What excited me most about the game was it was the first of which I've come across that had a big idea and a character arc," Turner said. "It is, I believe, the future of gaming. The game, while big and fun, is at its core a love ballad to the underachiever, which is what our hero, Cole McGrath, is."

inFamous scored an average of 84% on review aggregation site Metacritic. You can check out the HEXUS.gaming review: here.
