Following the confirmation from Activision that its World War II shooter, Call of Duty 5 will be ported to Wii, comes great news for Wii fans on the game's new features!

Developer Treyarch has confirmed that the multiplayer mode that many had hoped for will be included in its next title, the fifth instalment in the Call of Duty franchise, Call of Duty: World At War.

Speaking to Videogamer.com at the unveiling of the game in London over the weekend, Treyarch also confirmed that the game will feature a co-op mode and will utilise the Wii Zapper.

Built using a ported version of the Modern Warfare engine, Treyarch promise that the game will be the most realistic in the series so far with destructible environments that can be set on fire with a flamethrower and bullets that can pierce through wood.

The two-player co-op campaign will allow players to rank up and unlock perks in competitive multiplayer by completing challenges and earning experience points.

Senior producer Noah Heller told journalists that "This will easily the best shooter on the Wii." Looks like World at War is going to be going up against The Conduit for the title of 'most next-gen Wii game ever.'

Sounds great! Now where's the screenshots?

The title is scheduled to ship before the end of Activision's 2009 fiscal year for PC, PlayStation 3, Wii, and Xbox 360.
