Microsoft's Xbox Twitter account has been updated with a teaser image for the E3 2017 Briefing. "Brace for big news," it commands. What else could it be but the unveiling for Microsoft's Project Scorpio?

The event, organised to coincide with the E3 Expo, takes place on Sunday, 11th June at 2pm PDT (10pm UK time currently, but in June that will be equivalent to 11pm). Microsoft has hired the Galen Centre in LA for its special event; it's the same venue Microsoft used for the 2015 E3 Xbox Conference.
It's pretty certain that the E3 event as teased will be focussed sharply on Project Scorpio as the Twitter image uses the exact same 4K processor on motherboard image used in the Xbox - Project Scorpio teaser video published at E3 last summer. See below.
We don't have much in the way of Scorpio specs but a few statements distilled from the talking heads video above. In summary the console will offer:
- An SoC boasting 6TFLOPS, to handle true 4K
- The most powerful graphics processor ever in a console
- No compromises between resolution and framerate
- And it will be ready for 'Holiday 2017'
With the proliferation and ever increasing price competitiveness of 4K TVs it will be good that the console industry catches up to make the most of the squillions of pixels that will available in many a living room by the end of this year.
