More to do than a Saturday night out in Blackpool
Guild Wars Nightfall isn’t just about combat, there’s so much to do that it’s a whole other world where your free to do whatever takes your fancy, whether it be hanging out with friends and chatting in the town squares, bartering with other folk for the best deals or fighting battles across the huge landscapes. As with all other RPGs, you’ll want to level-up your character at every opportunity. Each time you level you’ll receive a number of points which you can assign to your character and to your heroes attributes, such as axe mastery (improves ability with axe), swordsmanship (improves ability with sword) and strength. Levelling up is achieved through gaining experience points which you’ll achieve by fighting or completing quests and will make your character stronger thus enabling you to progress further in the game. Some quests and missions can’t be carried out until you reach certain levels so you will have to partake in side-quest if you wish to maximise your levels quickly.
At the beginning of each mission or objective you can view the reward and decide on whether you think it’s worth the hassle. Completing any quest will result in experience points being awarded, but some missions may offer you items, commendations, gold, ingots or Sunspear points. Each time you collect enough Sunspear points (100 at a time) you’ll rise up the rankings of the Sunspear army thus unlocking new quests and giving you more attribute points to issue.
From the magical setting of the Sunspear Great Hall, with its imposing monuments and fountains, to the lush green setting of the Plains of Jarin, Guild War’s Nightfall looks the part. The creatures, heroes and NPCs are finely detailed, and although the bewitching visual impact of a fight scene can be heavy on the eyes, the explosion of colour thrusts you right into the fantasy mindset of a magical land
From what we’ve seen so far, Guild Wars’ Nightfall once again has the addictability factor and enough enchantment to make sure Guild Wars fans and new fans alike will be playing it for many months to come.
We'll have a full review nearer to the release date, which is October 27th - can't wait.
