Why Docomodake is a funghi...

The stylus is used to good effect throughout the game, using it to drag mini mushrooms around the screen individually or to circle the whole group so that you can move them as a pack. Amongst their many uses, you can use the mini mushrooms to trigger mechanisms, such as sinking floors, seesaws and switches, or use them to access otherwise unreachable areas.

Thanks in the most part to this body-splitting game mechanic - and the way the levels are designed to make the most of the ‘minis’ - Boing! Docomodake is an addictive blend of puzzle solving and platform-hopping action. Despite not knowing about the character beforehand, both Docomodake and his family of funghi have the likeability factor and this initial, very enjoyable, outing could well be the first of many in a potentially long and illustrious career for the mushroom mascot.

Boing! Docomodake is due for release on Nintendo DS on 31st October.

Pros

Good use of stylus and character abilities
Addictive platforming

Cons
Dull, repetitive backgrounds

An addictive platform game that oozes personality.
