WAKE UP!! Conclusion ahead...

Agon: Lost Sword of Toledo does have some good points. As you move from one area to the other, rather than stare at a loading banner across the screen, you’re treated to some finely drawn comic book-style sketches, very nice indeed. There’s also some fine detail in many of the environments, with rooms full of bric-a-brac, ornaments and paintings and plenty of attention to detail in the sun-drenched, atmospheric Plaza de la Mancha.

The game’s audio is certainly a highlight with stringed instruments and subtle sounds adding to the soothing quaint town atmosphere. In fact, it is so soothing that the sounds of birds chirping overhead, the ticking clock on the mantelpiece, or the guitarist who plays sweet tunes in the town square, is more than enough to make you drift off into a daydream, where you’ll be thinking of anything but playing this drowsy adventure.

The two main problems I have with Agon: Lost Sword of Toledo is that it’s stuck in a time warp and it goes completely over the top with dialogue.

I do like point and click adventures. I like Myst, Secret Files of Tunguska 1 and Secret Files: 2, the Broken Sword series, Sam & Max and The Last Express to name a few, but these titles all have something in common; the level of interaction and the cleverness of the puzzles draw you into their game worlds.

Agon: Lost Sword of Toledo doesn't; it's simply point and click adventuring at its dullest. As a result it will only appeal to die-hard fans of the series and those who really, really enjoy reading and those who are prepared to sit back and soak up every word of the story and character backgrounds, very, very slowly.

Pros
Simple to play, just point and click
A few clever puzzles
Looks quite nice

Cons
Unnecessary and long dialogue with characters
It soooo sloooooow
Feels like you’re just wasting time
Pixel-hunting every inch of the environment

Point and click adventuring at its dullest.
