Conclusion

Now don’t be under any illusions that this is a re-make because it isn’t. This is an enhanced version of the original so, by today’s standards, Another World is short compared to the majority of games out now but perhaps you're getting quality not quantity and god dammit we've all been told size doesn't matter! It's very challenging, especially if your reactions and hand/eye co-ordination aren't as finely honed as the next person. Sometimes the puzzles are a little obscure, the impassable water fall comes to mind, but generally the words ‘shoot first and then run like hell' would be wise to keep in mind.

To sum up Another World, even in this day of advanced graphics and the developer’s quest for realism, Another World still has a lot to offer. But don’t be fooled by the fact it looks like a sedate adventure game, because in many places quick reactions and pixel perfect positioning are needed to be a success. If you’re a fan of slower paced gaming, even though it’s fifteen years old, Another World might be frustrating for you. Saying that, I can see why some people would really enjoy it and by making a sweeping statement, I suspect that younger gamers won't be kicking down the doors to buy this all new sparkly 15th anniversary edition – but a lot of guys with fond memories of playing this in their curtain drawn bedrooms whilst their mums made the dinner, will have their credit cards at the ready…

Pros
Extra level before the arena level (not in Amiga version)
Updated graphics
Chachi's visionary idea that the monsters become one's own worst nightmare
Challenging (for us muppets)
Excellent 'making of' section
Soundtrack CD

Cons
A little short
Crazy hard for people without the reactions of a rattlesnake
Retro graphics (could be off putting for anyone thinking this is a new game)

Nostalgic gaming at it’s very best, but just for us ‘older’ gamers!

Used to play this game on the Atari ST… it infuriated me.

I guess I didn't have the skillz back then.
Amazing game.. but needed walkthroughs to know what to do next :p Nice music at the end though :)
I loved this game, played it to death both on the Amigh and mighty 3DO.
Great game, just rather difficult.

And not enough “save” points. With multiple attempts needed on multiple occasions in each segment, it could get annoying quickly.
At least I managed to get past the waterfall…
And complete the last section, having used a code to get there.

And the codes are the same as 15 years ago!
Ah what a great game - remember playing this on my old atari st. It didnt seem to matter how many times i died - just kept trying over and over.

I will def check out this anniversary edition
