Stay comfortable for long gaming sessions

The headset comes with a short USB cable so you can charge it directly from your PS3 and it delivers an impressive battery life; approximately 8-10 hours in use and over a week on standby. We were able to really maximise its battery life though by using the power off switch on the headset any time we stopped gaming for a few moments, or if we were waiting to join a server. The P90 delivers a decent sound. Other peoples’ voices are crystal clear and despite moving beyond its recommended 10 metre range we were able to stray a little bit further and still chat away, with only a slight loss in sound quality.

Feedback from other people that we talked to while wearing the headset was slightly mixed. While using the P90 with a Samsung Galaxy S smartphone, predominantly while driving, we were able to carry out perfectly clear conversations with no drop-in sound quality, crackling or reports of background noise interference. Reports from players on PS3, however, said our voice sounded quite loud. It's hard to tell whether this was an issue with the P90 or other people's headsets. Switching to the lowest volume setting appeared to eliminate the issue for other players, but then that affected the volume that we could hear others – people sounded a little too quiet. We did find a “sweet spot” for the volume, which wasn’t too noisy for others or too quiet for us, but we still had the occasional complaint from others that they could hear background noise.

So, the P90 GamesCom is a decent Bluetooth headset for the price, RRP £24.99 (17.99) on Amazon, but it's certainly not going to replace our wired 5.1 surround sound cans. It is, however, a decent and affordable alternative to the official Bluetooth headset. The ability to mute, for instance, is a good feature that we’ve used often. And, despite concerns over the flimsy build of the earloop, it feels extremely comfortable to wear for long periods of gaming. The range and battery life is also impressive, and though we had some issue with our voice through the headset, the problems were minimal considering we've been using the P90 regularly. Overall then, we'd recommend the P90 as a viable alternative to the official PlayStation headset, but it's also going to be worth your while comparing reviews with other models on the market built specifically for the same gaming purpose.

that looks like a proper nice headset.

Now I just need to learn to shoot stuff with a PS3 controller and not on a PC.

Excellent playtime/standby time on the battery too :)
