ASUS Transformer Prime Android 4.0 update now live

There you have it folks, announced for release two days prior to the expected January 12th release date thanks to an early approval from Google, the ASUS Transformer Prime Android 4.0 update is officially live, making the Transformer Prime the first Android 4.0 ICS device on the market.

Amongst the most significant updates:

 

  • A refreshed, simplified, more responsive and consistent UI
  • Folders and resizeable widgets
  • Live voice input
  • Refined control of network data
  • New social integration
  • Visual voicemail
  • Enhanced web-browser and e-mail
  • Android Beam NFC (for compatible devices!)
  • Face unlock
  • WiFi Direct and Bluetooth HDP
  • And many more performance and usability enhancements
Meanwhile prospective British customers still eagerly await the tablet's UK release on January 12th.

I'm afraid not, only that ASUS said they were working hard on bringing it to the device as soon as possible after the (now incorrect) Transformer Prime Jan 12th release.

Hopefully this early launch on the Prime means that us '101 owners will also get ICS early. :thumbsup:

ICS 4.0 will be coming to existing Eee Pad Transformer TF101. Exact date TBC but we are working on making the FOTA update available a.s.a.p. after Jan 12th launch with Prime TF201.
