Xigmatek has officially launched the Orthus SD1467 cooler, part of its Stealth range. This eye-catching cooler was seen at Computex but now we have the official specifications and images from the Xigmatek website so have a lot more hard information.

The most striking thing about the Orthus SD1467 cooler is its unique design which encloses seven heat pipes, its fans and some white LEDs behind a mesh grate. Please take a look at the pictures above and below.

Looking past the façade, what are the specs of this cooling solution?

  • Seven high quality 6mm heat-pipes and copper base material - effective heat transfer.
  • Duel set of heat-sink fins allows additional heat dissipation to other components on the motherboard.
  • Supports TDPs as high as 180W.
  • Supports E-ATX, ATX, micro-ATX and mini-ITX form factors.
  • Supports all Intel® Socket LGA 775 / 1150 / 1155 / 1156 / 1366 / 2011 CPU (Core™ i3 / i5 / i7 CPU).
  • Supports all AMD FM2+ / FM2 / FM1 / AM3+ / AM3 / AM2+ / AM2 CPU.
  • “Extremely quiet” unit uses fans equipped with FCB (Fluid circulative bearing)
  • Fans (orange coloured) are paired with white LED’s.
  • Cooler cover-plate protects fins (whilst adding a unique design).
  • Braided cables on fan, keeps the wires hidden and maintains aesthetics of the interior.
  • Weight of 875g including dual fans.
  • Dimensions are 146(W) x 200(D) x 165(H) mm (w/ FAN & Top cover).

While Xigmatek provide noise levels for the two tiered fans individually there are no figures given for the unit as a whole in its fully assembled form. Also sadly missing from the details are the suggested retail price and information regarding retail availability. The Orthus cooler isn’t listed as available at Xigmatek’s UK distributor as yet.

i like the look of it, but I imagine the price will smart a tad
A pretty normal cooler with a bit of plastic over it.

Not too different from this one?

Two stage cooling looks innovative, projecting the cooler vertically to avoid fouling of components/coolers either side of the CPU is a smart idea, I hope it performs well, but we do appear to be reaching a plateau of what heatpipe technology is capable of.

There are other technologies being developed that are full of promise but have yet to deliver, was disappointing to see the liquid metal coolers disappear without further development.
I would be worried that the small fan on the lower section might be whiny… interested to see benchmarks though, as and when they appear.

Also, always good to hear from cloudys :O_o1:
Like my 80i better very quiet and CPU stays at 50c whatever I'm doing
