AMD's FX-Series CPUs landed this morning, and as you'd expect, the flagship FX-8150 got a good old grilling in the HEXUS.labs. Our assessment concluded that despite the FX-Series boasting modern design, an elegant modern architecture and attractive pricing, Intel's Sandy Bridge line-up arguably demonstrates a better all-round solution.

If the FX-Series ticks the right boxes for you though - and you can't wait to perhaps walk away with the goods in our greatest giveaway - we've prepared the chart below, to detail FX-Series launch-day pricing and availability.

Pricing and availability correct, as of 11.00am, October 12th, 2011

With the best pricing coming in at £199.99 for the FX-8150, £165.36 for the FX-8120, £139.92 for the FX-6100 and £89.05 for the FX-4100, there's seemingly one issue - availability.

At the best prices, it's claimed that availability isn't expected until the end of the month. but some of the purveyors we researched are listing ETAs between today and the end of next week.

Side bar - but are we seeing any revisions on AM3 processors?

The FX 4100 surely makes the similarly priced Phenom quad core look an obsolete choice now!
Am I seeing thing here? Why is Scan prices are higher than other retailers?
Surprised Aria aren't on there, from my scanning they were first in the UK to put pricing up.

Not really - given the single and multithreaded performance of the 8150, the Phenom II X4s might actually be a better buy at the same price…
You'd have to be mental to buy one of these if you're already using an AM3 chip (especially if you don't already have an AM3+ motherboard which probably most people) or any modern day chip from intel…
