Today ASUS has announced a new 27-inch monitor aimed at the professional market. It is a 27-inch AH-IPS device with what is said to be exceptional colour accuracy and support for 99% Adobe Wide Gamut RGB.

The ProArt series of monitors from ASUS caters to professionals for whom colour accuracy matters. These monitors are calibrated for colour accuracy in the factory so should be usable for colour sensitive work right out of the box. This 27-inch IPS display also enjoys wide 178 degree viewing angles.

Key specifications of the ASUS PA279Q ProArt monitor are:

  • 27-inch WQHD panel 2560 x 1440 pixels offering 109ppi
  • Reduced Energy Consumption
  • Superior Colour Accuracy with six-axis independent adjustment, colour temperature control and gamma adjustment
  • 10-bit RGB
  • 100,000,000:1 contrast ratio
  • Increased Backlight Transmission (for an overall brighter image) offering maximum brightness of 350 cd/m2
  • 6ms response time
  • PIP (Picture in Picture) Mode
  • Built-in Stereo 3W Speakers, 3.5mm audio in and out
  • DisplayPort In and DisplayPort Out, HDMI, dual-link DVI-D Ports
  • 9-in-1 card reader, Six-port USB 3.0 HUB with “SuperSpeed” battery charing
  • Tilt, swivel, pivot and height adjustment plus VESA mountable
  • Size and weight: 640 x 560 x 240mm, 10.2Kg

The variety and flexibility offered by the ports on the ASUS PA279Q ProArt monitor means that you can display content from two sources simultaneously and ASUS helps you do this with their own OSD which offers “ASUS Quickfit Virtual Scale, Picture-in-Picture, Picture-by-Picture” using a 5 way navigation key and two customisable shortcut keys.

In a professional environment ergonomic adjustments to the monitor position are very important and ASUS seems to have covered the full array of tilt, swivel and rotational abilities here. Also the stand height adjustment can adjust the monitor height by 13cm from the default. The monitor is also VESA mountable should you have a preferable professional dedicated stand.

ASUS hasn’t given any pricing indications for the PA279Q ProArt, which will be launched at Computex next week.

Ah, just after I bought 2 x PB278Qs. But I'm really pleased with them anyway.
Another 27“ from Asus, how many 27” models have they got?
Superspeed battery charing. Mmmmm crispy.

I think my next monitor would be an asus one, unsure on 27" screens though. Either way it looks good.
very nice but cant see the price being much under £400 if at all.
Don't think I'm ever going to get another PC monitor for primary usage, gaming is so much more immersive on a 40“+ screen, got a 40” until I move into a bigger place where I'll be getting a 55“ LED, I just didn't enjoy gaming at all on my 26” 1200p after staying at a mates and having it hooked up to his 42" LED samsung
