At CES 2016 ViewSonic launched a number of monitors including models aimed at gamers, as well as multimedia monitors and a new series of projectors aimed at home users. The monitor specialist firm revealed a total of four new gaming monitors, as part of its XG series. These variously support resolutions from Full HD to 4K UHD, ultra-fast response times, low input lag, plus Nvidia G-SYNC or AMD FreeSync technologies.

XG2401

Starting at the low end of the quartet, here is the smallest panel in the new XG range. Its 24-inch diagonal TFT LCD screen sports full HD resolution. The ViewSonic XG2401 supports up to 144Hz refresh rate, AMD FreeSync technology, and a 1ms response time. This monitor will be available to buy later this month and has an MSRP of $404.

XG2701

ViewSonic's XG2701 takes the features of the above gaming monitor and presents them in a larger format. All the above specs, except for the screen size, apply to this monitor. It will be priced at $529 and is also expected to arrive later this month.

XG2703-GS

This 27-inch monitor uses a SuperClear IPS display panel with a QHD resolution (2560 x 1440) and maximum refresh rate of 165Hz. The 'GS' suffix marks this one as being Nvidia G-Sync compatible. The XG2703-GS is expected to hit the shelves in March, priced at $1,217.

XG2700-4K

Here is another 27-inch monitor. This time ViewSonic has selected a SuperClear IPS Panel with 4K Ultra HD resolution (3840x2160). In terms of performance the XG2700-4K offers 5ms response time, and supports the 4K UHD resolution at 60Hz (HDMI 2.0) backed up by AMD FreeSync variable refresh rate tech. Expected to ship in late Feb, this monitor will be priced at $913.

Common features among the above monitors are inputs including DisplayPort and HDMI, USB hubs, integrated speakers, ViewSonic Game Modes, SmartSync adjustment, black stabilisation, eye-care technology with Flicker-Free and Blue Light Filter.

A lovely piece of kit but that price…! It'll be £500 in the Xmas sales I'll bet.

edit: referring to the XG2700-4K model
What if………
What if I won lotto, I could afford 3x monitors (3x XG2703-GS about $3600) and a high end crossfire set up (2x AX Power colour R9 fury X $2,400) in a top end gaming rig (at least another $2500) - So not much change from $10,000 (in Australian the three monitors alone would be over $5,200 and the 2x VGU's $3,450) if all bought new.
But since the only thing I have ever won is a couple of meat trays about 30 years ago, I can only dream - what if …… :-)
I haven't touched a monitor with a TN panel in years (with a 50 ft barge pole or otherwise) and I'm not about to start now.

Now, Dell's 4K OLED monitor… I just need to win the lottery first. :)
Why the hell is the 27“ QHD GSync monitor more expensive than the 27” 4K one. Crazy
