FeedDemon, NetNewsWire and others are now freeware

It's not like me to miss a good deal but I seem to have let slip a great one here.

A little over a week ago, NewsGator announced new versions of its RSS readers, and better still, it announced that they are "now available free of charge and include free synchronisation along with other services".

The newly updated free products include:

  • FeedDemon for Windows
"Bring the power of FeedDemon, PC Magazine's Editor's Choice RSS Reader, to your Windows desktop. Get your news and podcasts automatically."
  • NetNewsWire for Mac
"Bring the power of RSS right to your Mac desktop with the "Eddy" award-winning NetNewsWire. Get news and podcasts downloaded automatically with this powerful RSS and Atom reader."
  • NewsGator Go! for Mobile
"NewsGator Go! gives you the ability to track and manage all your RSS content on your Blackberry, Windows Mobile device, Java Mobile Smartphone or Java PDA."
  • NewsGator Inbox for Microsoft Outlook
"If you spend much of your day interacting with Outlook, take advantage of the ability to track and manage all of your RSS content within Microsoft Outlook."

Nick Bradbury, creator of FeedDemon said "When I joined NewsGator, I had a vision of FeedDemon leveraging the power of NewsGator’s platform to give PC users a better reading experience. Making all the clients free helps make that platform even richer and more powerful – I’m very excited about the possibilities and have some great features planned for the next release of FeedDemon."

The NewsGator applications can be downloaded at NewsGator.com.

I'm testing this out at the moment. I couldn't see how you could transfer RSS feeds into it from Google Reader.

So far so good, however I still think Wizz RSS 2.1.9 suits my needs better. It just opens on my browser rather than being a totally separate program.
