Recently Kingston tied up with Intel to retail the latter's solid-state drives. The SSDNOW E and SSDNOW M are direct rebrands of Intel-produced technology, with capacities ranging from 32GB to 160GB.

The memory giant is acutely aware that it also needs value-oriented SSDs in the line-up and at COMPUTEX '09 will officially launch the SSDNOW V range. You can work out what the 'V' denotes, right?

Due to ship in 64GB and 128GB capacities, with the option for a notebook-drive pack that includes a 2.5in USB/SATA enclosure, or desktop-bundle set that ships a 2.5in-to-3.5in mounting and SATA data and power extender cables, Kingston's value drives come in at the following prices:

Kingston SSDNow V Series Solid-State Drives

MSRP

SNV125-S2BD/64GB

64GB 2.5 SATA SSD w/desktop bundle

£96.00

SNV125-S2BN/64GB

64GB 2.5 SATA SSD w/notebook bundle

SNV125-S2BD/128GB

SNV125-S2BN/128GB

Looking around the Internet, the 64GB and 128GB pricing seems competitive, knowing that the drives read/write at 100MB/s and 80MB/s, respectively. Both bundles also ship with Acronis True Image cloning software, too.

I wonder what the actual street price is going to end up at.

Could force the 64GB samsung and 120GB Corsair down a bit as well.
Hows the performance?

Not bad. At least it's progress in terms of price.

the 64GB Samsung can be had for £91.99 at Novatech..
that's the slower version though. but it's on a par with those Kingston drives.
