Intel has used IDF 2011 to launch its 710 Series of SSDs.
Using 25nm enterprise-grade Multi-Level Cell (MLC) NAND flash memory, together with Intel's High Endurance Technology (HET), the 710 Series SSDs are positioned perfectly for data centre usage.
The 710 Series SSDs use Intel-developed firmware and can also be over-provisioned by users, to achieve up to 80 per cent greater write endurance. Sequential read/write speeds come in at up to 270MB/s and 210MB/s, depending on model, and the 2.5in drives utilise SATA 3Gbps connectivity.
Shipping in 100GB, 200GB and 300GB capacities, those all-important price tags come in at $649, $1,289 and $1,929 US Dollars, respectively, and provide - according to Intel - better bang-for-buck than the previous generation X25-E family.
