Final thoughts and rating

SilverStone's Temjin TJ04 has been long overdue a refresh, but 2012's TJ04-E upgrade has been well worth the wait.

The revamped chassis gets it right in a lot of key areas; it looks smart, it isn't too big, it's well built, out-the-box cooling performance is good, there's room to double up on fans if you feel the need, and the storage expansion options - which include nine 3.5in bays, six 2.5in bays and four 3.5in bays - are simply outstanding.

Factor in USB 3.0 connectivity, beefed-up hard-disk cooling and an internal layout that's intuitive and easy to work with, and you're left with a well-rounded chassis that's a viable alternative to any other mid-tower on the market. GPU cooling performance could be better - gamers may want to invest in that optional bottom intake - and we'd like to have seen a fan controller offered as standard, but our criticisms are both minor and few and far between.

Bottom line: If you're in the market for a well-built mid-tower chassis that can easily accommodate several storage devices, look no further than the Temjin Series TJ04-E.

The Good

Simple, elegant design
Massive storage capacity
Good cooling performance
Keeps quiet in use
Well laid out interior
Great cable management

The Bad

Costly at over £100
Plastic fan filters feel flimsy

Looks beautiful! I still prefer its smaller brother though.
Impressed by the understated design, but agree that the plastic fan filters spoil it too.
Would be interesting to know how well 8 or 9 drives are cooled when they're all churning away! ;)
Like this case a lot.
But is this cable provided? Seems to have missed a few of the drives too

TaintedShirt, two of the SATA power extender cables are included in the bundle. Each has four connectors, so you could use the two cables to power all eight drives.
