Conclusion

...SilverStone's slim enclosure has a multitude of usage scenarios and could work well as a space-saving workstation, a svelte HTPC or a transportable gaming rig.

We've enjoyed toying with mini-ITX chassis in recent months, and with current crop of PC components, small, quiet and powerful machines can be put together without too much difficulty.

It's a great time to consider downsizing your rig, and if you need extra incentive, SilverStone has put forth another intriguing proposition in the form of Milo ML08.

Priced at just under £70, SilverStone's slim enclosure has a multitude of usage scenarios and could work well as a a space-saving workstation, a svelte HTPC or a transportable gaming rig. The absence of chassis fans and the position of various vents ultimately makes the enclosure best suited to vertical deployment, however the versatility is a nice touch and SilverStone maintains that flexible feel with a logical internal layout that's easy to work with.

Making the most of its 12-litre volume, Milo ML08 is well suited to a modern build comprised of a dedicated graphics card and an SSD or two. Slotting in said components is a breeze, as is the installation of a mini-ITX motherboard, and though there are no case fans to speak of, ample ventilation suggests that cooling performance shouldn't be a problem with well-selected components.

The chassis' rugged-looking exterior may also be an acquired taste, and various plastic elements may put off users seeking a premium solution, but there are value-adds that help balance the scales. We like the fact that the front I/O ports can be obscured, the carry handle is a neat addition, and securing brackets for both the PSU and GPU are a nice touch.

We're expecting to see a spate of innovative small-form-factor chassis in 2016, but even at this early stage, SilverStone has done enough to make the ML08 worthy of consideration.

Exactly what I was looking for when I next upgrade. Will definitely be giving this further consideration when the time comes.
Great idea - just a shame it looks like a toolbox.
Pretty much the perfect layout for a mini-itx build with a decent graphics card. Agree on the looks though, guess it would be out of site most of the time…

Better a toolbox than another one that looks like Autobots and Decepticons!!
I think the RVZ series look better, but this is still tempting. Silverstone have some cracking cases on offer.
