Conclusion
...ticks most of the right boxes as a sleek, easy-to-install cooler from a well-known brand.Swedish outfit Fractal Design has expanded the reach of its all-in-one coolers with the addition of the mid-range Lumen.
Priced from £87 and manufactured in partnership with Apaltek, the cooler differentiates itself from myriad Asetek-based alternatives through a pump inset into the radiator, and a cute low-profile CPU block whose RGB lid is striking in its simplicity.
Cooling performance is strong even on our overclocked Ryzen 9 5950X processor, and though noise levels aren't the absolute best, Lumen S28 ticks most of the right boxes as a sleek, easy-to-install cooler from a well-known brand. We'd liked to have seen Fractal go the extra yard by hiding the CPU block's RGB cable and putting some spare thermal paste in the box, and with keen pricing being the order of the day, current discounts to the existing Celsius+ put Lumen in a tight spot.
Bottom line: a clean-looking and capable performer, Lumen is a yet another option in a burgeoning market and worth a closer look if the price is right.
The Good The Bad Cute low-profile block
RGB lighting is well done
Good cooling performance
No superflous software
Five-year warranty Refill port not officially supported
Still no spare thermal paste
Not the quietest
