Thoughts

With an onboard graphics core and decent performance from Athlon XP, the N2VIEW makes a lot more sense as a MagicTwin platform, compared to the PT800TWIN. Low cost processors, no need to initially purchase a compatible graphics card and low cost make things that bit more bearable.

The caveats that apply to all MagicTwin systems still apply here; Microsoft's charge for Windows XP and licensing restrictions for many apps on the Windows platform seem to nix the idea before it gets too far off the ground.

But with a bit of software shopping homework, there's value to be had from a MagicTwin setup. It's still utterly specialist in its implementation, with Jetway aiming more for the internet cafe crowd, rather than your average HEXUS reader, but the software is still an interesting piece of technology to cover.

I much prefer the N2VIEW versus its P4 sibling. The board has a compliant BIOS, the onboard core worked fine and things were generally less hassle.

I'll refrain from scoring it outright, as with the PT800TWIN but, again, the N2VIEW is the better of the pairing.

Recommended only if you 100% know that it fits what you need, the MagicTwin software is the highlight, the hardware makes it worthwhile this time.

Pros

Allows two concurrent users to login to a local Windows XP install
Very little performance overhead
Easy to manage software
Cheap board cost

Cons

Software licensing costs and restrictions
A software bundle of suitable, free, applications would have been nice
The hardware limits what both stations can do concurrently, especially with regard to 3D work
The onboard VGA core isn't the last word in 3D performance

Thanks

Jetway for the sample board
