Conclusion

...performance struggles to keep pace with other mainstream solutions, and given the price premium, Fury RGB is difficult to recommend.

RGB lighting may seem entirely superfluous, yet when done right, it can add an extra layer of wow factor to a gaming rig. We've seen plenty of eye-catching examples in recent years, and while most areas of a build can be enhanced with RGB components, storage tends to be left in the dark.

Hoping to change that, the HyperX Fury RGB SSD offers synchronised lighting in a 2.5in drive that looks trendy and comes equipped with no fewer than 75 LEDs.

The illumination looks the part, and does a fine job of brightening a typically dull area of our test platform, yet it's a surprise to find that HyperX's overall implementation isn't in line with our expectations of an enthusiast brand. Our 480GB sample runs warmer than we'd like, performance struggles to keep pace with other mainstream solutions, and given the price premium, Fury RGB is difficult to recommend.

Bottom line: HyperX has proven there's scope for RGB lighting on SSDs, but unless you absolutely adore the glitz, there are superior drives available for less money.

now storage solutions are joining the party.
They already joined in May, according to Hexus: https://hexus.net/tech/news/storage/117758-team-group-launches-t-force-delta-rgb-ssds/

They really ought to design these things with a custom logo plates feature, or some other customisation.
Not sure what they're doing with LEDs t generate that much heat either, but I suspect it's something silly.

Yet another great RGB concept piddled down the drain to become hater-fodder…

It seems like quite a price increase for very little. Given how small the actual SSD PCB is on modern SATA drives, I wonder if you could 3D print a new SSD case incorporating something like: https://cpc.farnell.com/productimages/standard/en_GB/SC14938-40.jpg

pulling the power from the SATA power connector with a couple of mylar wires.
