INTEL DEVELOPER FORUM, SAN FRANCISCO, March 2, 2005 - This week Intel is showing the first early demonstration of a method for integrating an Intel concept mobile PC into a Land Rover LR3. The concept mobile PC is designed to be based on future generations of Intel(r) Centrino(tm) mobile technology.

Consumers are increasingly looking to enjoy entertainment content - such as movies and music - on-the-go. For example, portable media players are expected to grow more than sevenfold to 4.5 million units in the U.S. by 2007, and last year portable digital audio players were expected to reach over 30 million units, a 28 percent growth over 2003, according to In-Stat research group.

The concept mobile PC is an ultra-mobile platform that is not only designed for "on-the-go" entertainment, but also addresses consumers' communications and computing needs. It can also serve as a secondary notebook within the home. In this special collaboration, it is integrated into the car via a docking station to provide a glimpse into the future of how PCs could be easily taken in and out of the car to provide access to personal media from virtually anywhere, such as:

* Grabbing music or photos off home systems to view in the car ("sync-n-go") or gaining remote access to the files on a home PC or network while in the car ("outside in");

* Watching movies or doing gaming in the back seat;

* Getting real-time driving directions; and

* Streaming your favorite personal music through the car's speakers.

The mobile concept PC features the following capabilities:

* Wireless integration with the LR3 speakers via a Bluetooth audio adapter;

* 8.9-inch wide-display touch screen that that can be easily used by children and adults alike, and doubles as a speaker to provide a high-quality entertainment experience;

* Fingerprint sensor to recognize users;

* High-quality integrated camera for video chatting;

* Detachable DVD drive;

* GPS service (where GPS satellite signal and area software maps are available); and

* Web access via integrated wireless connectivity (requires access through mobile phones).



In its third year, the mobile concept PC program supports Intel's vision of how notebook computers might evolve within the next two to three years. It provides inspiration to the industry by highlighting new usage models and opportunities for growth in the PC industry.
