Toshiba HD-EP30 with 7 free HD-DVDs, only £149.00

By all accounts, Blu-Ray may be winning the format war in terms of studio support, and indeed, both Blu-Ray and HD-DVD maybe too little too late with digital distribution moving ahead at full speed.

Nonetheless, a good deal is a good deal and that's exactly what Amazon.co.uk has in store in the form of Toshiba's HD-EP30 HD-DVD player.

Available now, you can pick up the HD-EP30 complete with no less than 7 free HD-DVDs, all for just £149. Granted, that's still not quite as low as the US where the HD-A30 can be had for $170 (£85) but it isn't a bad price for a very good player.

Format war aside, what you're looking at here is a HD player that'll play any HD-DVD discs that you may pick up somewhere down the line. But, if not, it'll still perform admirably as a DVD upscaler. Some might even call it a no-brainer.

Available now at Amazon.co.uk

*update*
The Amazon.co.uk deal is good, but Play.com now have the same deal for a cracking £119.99.

Thats quite tempting actually, especially with 300 and The Bourne Supremacy :)
Yep ordered one today :) To make it potentially even better, you're covered by Amazon's “refund the difference” on any price-drops within 30 days, which I imagine is quite likely! I'll get a BD player when they drop to a similar price, HD-DVD will do me for now.
Sorry Jim, but I've updated the article, the Amazon deal was a cracker, but Play.com has bested it as it's now selling the same bundle (HD-EP30 and 7 free HD-DVDs) for £119.99! :)

Toshiba HD-EP30 from Play.com
That's a pretty tempting deal!
Unfortunately, not one that I can afford.
Haven't all the picture studios gone to Blu-Ray now?
Not yet, but I think it is only a matter of time!

I think I will grab myself a PS3 when my bonus comes through. If we get one!
