BET ON SOLDIER

What do get after spending six years, that’s SIX whole years researching a developing a new game engine? No, it’s not Duke Nukem Forever we’re talking about, it’s Digital Jesters’ new FPS, Bet On Soldier.

The basic thrust of the game is that there’s been a war raging for the last 80 years and no-one is too sure why it kicked off anymore. But 80 years of warring takes its toll and the battle has developed into a war between to rival giant federations, who treat the war like a business (as these future things invariably do). Having used up their stock of standard soldiers, the war is fought using mercenaries and to keep the masses happy, the battles between rival mercenaries has been turned into a game show.

Mercenaries, being mercenaries, soon figured out that there was a fair deal of wedge to be made by betting on themselves and others as to who would win and so Bet On Soldier was born. Before entering battle, players can wager on which particular enemy soldiers they are going to kill. When they encounter this enemy in the game, a duel will take place. Depending on the outcome, the player will either lose his stake or win a prize calculated according to his opponent's rank, his initial stake, and the length of time it took to win. Accrued credits can be used to upgrade the player's character, in order to challenge progressively tougher opponents.

DJ and developers, Kylotonn, have worked hard to make BOS stand out from the crowd of shooters all screaming for your attention. Their proprietary Kt engine is a technical marvel, taking full advantage of pixel and vertex shaders alongside advanced specular effects. The engine also gives the game world real physical properties, and is based upon technology developed over the previous six years. Additionally, Kylotonn have been working closely with AMD throughout the development of Bet On Soldier and the game will ship with a 64-bit version that has been specifically optimised to take full advantage of the processing power of the 64-bit AMD AthlonTM 64 FX processor. Developing the game with built-in 64-bit capability enables much faster access and processing of data for PC games, allowing developers the freedom to create larger, more immersive game worlds, faster and smoother frame rates and, ultimately, a noticeably enriched gaming experience.

With levels set in Europe, Alaska and Cuba and with over 40 different weapons to master to aid you in taking out over 40 different Elite mercenaries, Bet On Soldier looks like it could well fill it’s promise of giving as a new slant on the FPS game and is also backed up by 32 player multiplayer support with 8 different classes to get o grips with there too.

Bet On Soldier is shaping up to be a fine looking game that's going to add a new slant to the FPS genre. We'll let you know as soon as we've got some playable code to look at!
