Voodoo Nights - PC and Xbox 360
Mindware Studios have announced a new action/adventure game titled Voodoo Nights which will, they say, use an innovative ‘buddy system’ in a stylized action extravaganza.
The core of gameplay is the fast coordination and interaction of the two main characters. Jack and Samuel, two loose cannon cops, are on the trail of a deadly gang who know how to handle guns as well as Voodoo magic. Players directly control one character at a time, switching back and forth between them at any time and can assign simple commands to the second character such as ‘go here’, ‘attack him’, ‘cover me’ etc.
Using this system gives a unique style of play, claim Mindware. For example, using the teamwork of two characters, when one runs for shelter, the other gives covering fire. When Jack levitates an enemy out from cover with a Voodoo spell, his partner can shoot the enemy down.
One handy feature is the ‘picture in picture’ function which enhances the two-player gameplay, as a player can always see what both characters are looking at. And of course, a shooter today wouldn’t be complete without some sort of bullet time, except here it’s called DeadTime mode, which helps the player control his actions in slow motion mode.
