There's another amazing piece of gaming hardware out in the wild. Following in the footsteps of Nvidia RTX 3000 Series and Microsoft's Xbox Series S/X, Sony's eagerly anticipated PlayStation 5 this week officially arrived on UK shores.

Cause for celebration for those who managed to get one, yet in keeping with other high-profile launches, stock has proven extremely hard to come by, leaving a sour taste in the mouths of many console gamers who feel left out.

Still, new consoles don't come around all that often, so for PS5 owners who have had the opportunity to fire up the machine and bask in the glory of that next-gen experience, we want to know: what are your first impressions of PlayStation 5? Its clearly a 4K 60hz machine built on the bones of the PS4 Pro, a lot of the hype is not really deserving but the controller is pretty good.

PS5 completely ignores PC monitors, 1440p Freesync, PC 120hz modes.
PS5 HDMI 2.1 features are barely non-existent, no HDMI-VRR, no ALLM, no 8K 60hz support.
PS5 120hz support only applies to video 120hz modes (not the same as PC 120Hz timings).
PS5 only outputs 120hz if a game supports it, otherwise it stays in 60hz mode at all other times.
No support for Dolby Vision HDR.
Cant cold store PS5 games on USB storage.
Auto forces on HDR all the time, which is bad if you have an OLED.

It's basically a PS4 Pro with better hardware inside it and a good cooling system.
Not managed to order one, let alone get one.

I can't help but feel that some form of orderly queue perhaps with a deposit would get rid of the scalpers.

Seems amazing that both MS & Sony appear to have nailed the cooling on the first hardware iteration. Used to the first batch being jet fighters! Guess they've had a lot of stick for it before.

Wonder how cheap a PS4 Pro is going to be on black Friday/cyber Monday…?
There was a lot of backlash regarding PS4 fans and consoles were getting RMAd a LOT when they were first released, so it makes sense for them to design it better this time around.

I consider buying a PS5 but it would be nice for some silly problems like refresh rate to be sorted out first.
Went looking for one today, as a xmas present for my son. Got quoted £750 from my local ‘CEX’ shop (they had ONE in stock) . Told them where they could stick it.
