AMD APPOINTS RADIOSHACK PRESIDENT AND COO, DAVID EDMONDSON, TO BO ARD OF DIRECTORS

SUNNYVALE, CA - November 2, 2004 - AMD (NYSE: AMD) today announced the appointment of David J. Edmondson, president and chief operating officer of RadioShack Corporation, to its board of directors. Mr. Edmondson, 45, was elected at AMD's board of directors meeting on Oct. 27.

"The appointment of David Edmondson to our board is another symbol of AMD's transformation to industry leadership," said Hector Ruiz, AMD CEO and chairman of the board. "David's knowledge of consumers and particularly 'digital lifestyle' trends makes him a strong addition to a very solid board. David Edmondson is president and chief operating officer for RadioShack Corporation. Today, RadioShack is one of the nation's largest retailers of consumer electronics with $4.64 billion in annual revenues and over 7,000 locations. Edmondson is the driving force behind the corporate-wide implementation and execution of the company's solutions strategy - namely, to dominate cost-effective solutions to meet everyone's routine electronics needs and families' distinct electronics wants.

Edmondson joined RadioShack in 1994 as vice president of marketing. He was promoted to his current position in December 2000. He previously served as senior vice president of RadioShack Corporation and executive vice president/chief operating officer of the RadioShack Retail Division. Edmondson was responsible for crafting the strategy that brought RadioShack's Circle R Group back in-house. He was responsible for negotiating and implementing several strategic marketing partnerships, including those with Sprint, Hewlett-Packard, RCA and Verizon Wireless.

Prior to joining RadioShack, Edmondson served for 12 years in a variety of sales and marketing roles for ADVO, Inc., the largest database and direct-marketing company in the nation. While there, he was a key executive responsible for developing comprehensive marketing programs for some of the nation's top retail brands.

In 1996, Edmondson was recognized by Advertising Age as one of the Top 100 marketers in the United States.

Edmondson graduated from Pacific Coast Baptist College in San Dimas, California, where he earned degrees in theology and psychology. He is an alumnus of Harvard Business School Advanced Management Program. He is a board member of the internationally recognized Van Cliburn Foundation and the Women's Center in Fort Worth.
