With the start of the Beijing Olympics fast approaching, Eidos has pinned down a release date for its big sporting summer title, Summer Athletics.

Summer Athletics will launch on Xbox 360, PS2, PC and Wii and will feature 25 disciplines from the Olympic games.

Featuring a character editor, lifelike 3D graphics, realistic athlete animations and what's described as a ‘life-like’ stadium atmosphere, the sports on offer include sprinting, hurdles, cycling, archery, javelin, hammer throwing, swimming and diving.

“We’re really excited about the release of Summer Athletics, especially as it is the first realistic summer sports simulation for the Nintendo Wii and will tie in with the major sporting events occurring this summer.” Jon Brooke, Head of UK Marketing for Eidos.

“It will provide hours of fun gaming for a wide audience and should really capture the mood of the summer.”

I used to like playing the summer and winter games. Havn't bought one in years though. Think the last time was on the Commodore Amiga.

Wonder how this one will fare against the official Beijing Olympics game.
