A number of disgruntled gamers, including our own HEXUS.community members, have been airing their views recently on an issue involving the recently released MMOG, Aion.

The issue revolves around queuing for servers during peak times. HEXUS.community member, Lucio, reported in our forums that "if you don't log on at non-peak times, you face a wait of between 20 and 60 minutes to get into the game (reports nearly 1000 people waiting to log onto a single server.)"

NCSoft has kindly sent us the following response, re-assuring members that new servers are on the way.

“Due to the tremendous excitement surrounding the Western launch of Aion and the phenomenal demand from MMO players who want to quickly jump into the game, we have proactively increased our server capacity by almost 50% since launch. The addition of new servers and increase in maximum user capacity per server equips us to better handle player demand.

For players who are experiencing longer than normal queue times, there are several servers available in which to choose from with minimal queue times, for instance Fregion in North America and Nerthus, Deltras and Kahrun in Europe. Choosing to play on one of these less populated servers allows players to quickly jump into the game, bypassing the longer queue times of servers in high demand.

We will continue to monitor queues closely. We strive to provide players with the best possible experience with Aion, and we will be adding additional servers as necessary.”

There you have it. In summary: NCSoft weren't quite prepared for the amount of players, but queue times should get better over the next few weeks.

Up to sixty minutes my ar#e, I personally have waited nearly two hours to get on-line on a few occasions. Basically get home from work, log in, go make and eat dinner watch some TV then check to see if I can get in, nope then watch more TV. Even logging on around 9pm can take up to 30mins. The waiting times are ridiculous. Ok so its new but come on 4 European English language servers at launch, they introduced German and French servers before the English language ones. As of today there are still only 16 servers, hardly enough for the amount of players. It also doesn't help that the game seems to disconnect you fairly often, at least you jump the queue when you log back on right away, otherwise it would be even more frustrating.
The least NCSoft could do to compensate players for the hours spent waiting to log on is provide free character transfer to another server now, and another free month gameplay.
