Electronic Arts has revealed the minimum, recommended and high performance specs for upcoming FPS blockbuster sequel Crysis 3. Crysis 2 is a current fixture in HEXUS graphic card benchmarks and has been for nearly a year. Such is the game franchise’s well-known appetite for CPU and GPU grunt that “Yeah, but can it run Crysis?” has become an internet meme.

Crysis 3 minimum system operating requirements for PC are:

  • Windows Vista, Windows 7 or Windows 8
  • DirectX 11 graphics card with 1Gb Video RAM
  • Dual core CPU
  • 2GB Memory (3GB on Vista)

    Nvidia GTS 450
    Intel Core2 Duo 2.4 Ghz (E6600)
  • Example 2 (AMD):
    AMD Radeon HD5770
    AMD Athlon64 X2 2.7 Ghz (5200+)

EA also lists the recommended system operating requirements for PC which includes the above but upgrades to a quad core CPU and Nvidia GTX 560 or better or AMD Radeon HD5870 or better.

If you want the game to play and look its best then the hardware listed below is recommended.
Hi-performance PC specifications:

  • Windows Vista, Windows 7 or Windows 8
  • Latest DirectX 11 graphics card
  • Latest quad core CPU
  • 8GB Memory

As a reminder for Crisis 2 players here are the official minimum specs for that game. The newest Crysis game, Crysis 3 is scheduled for release in February 2013. The Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 owners will also get to enjoy the game.

Why such high end ? surely its just another console port ?
Looks like my new PC satisfies the high-performance specs, shame I'm unlikely to ever try it.

If they're speccing a DX11 graphics card then it ain't no current gen console port ;)

Perhaps there'll actually be a proper PC version ready for release, with the console version a massively hacked down version (rather than the bad console port + half-assed DX11 add-on pack that it seemed to get last time…)

It's not high end at all. The minimum and recommended specs are very modest for an enthusiast - even my wife's more casual gaming rig meets recommended spec no problem.

If they didn't provide an extra mode for the super-dupers of today then they would be accused of dumbing it down for consoles. At least the super-duper mode fits fine for todays top end rigs, it won't be asking for a generation or two in the future.
Mine is just below the high spec benchmark with an HD 7850 OC and an FX-4100. So no upgrades needed here. I'm a little excited about this game but I won't be buying when it comes out, I will be waiting for a great deal to come around on it.
