Bethesda has confirmed that when players reach the end of the Fallout 4 main storyline the game won't simply end. In the new game, if you complete the main mission, you can still wander around exploring and even level up – there is no 'hard finish', no level cap.

In the previous games of the series, including the most recent Fallout 3 and New Vegas, once a player completed the main storyline the games would end. So players couldn't go back and complete side missions that they may have skipped, or revisit experiences, or level up any higher.

However, thanks to a DLC, gamers could sidestep the finality of the end of the Fallout 3 game - the Broken Steel DLC allowed players to finish off any side quests they may have had left. Broken Steel allowed the level cap of 20 in the original game to be boosted to 30.

While we are still waiting for Fallout 4, there are a few new videos that have been published by Bethesda showing aspects of the new game in more detail. A fortnight ago Bethesda published the Fallout 4 – Combat Gameplay Compilation and the Fallout 4 – Gameplay Exploration videos. This week at Gamescom it has published a new video from its E3 Presentation called Fallout 4 - Why Details Matter.

Fallout 4 will be released on 10th November for Windows PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One platforms.

Yes but if there's no reason to then it's pointless
Blitz the main story to get whatever upgrades it gives you then spend an obscene amount of time playing the rest of the game, sounds good to me!
I think it pee'd a lot of people off in FO:NV when the game just ended at conclusion of the main story with no option to carry on exploring or starting/finishing DLC campaigns - so well done Bethesda!

so in your world you have to finish all DLC story/missions before the end of the main story, well done
There goes my life! Hopefully VR will be supported too.
