Infinity Ward’s Modern Warfare 3 is now available for pre-order via the digital distribution service, Steam and will feature full Steamworks support for PC.

Due to launch on November 8 for PC, PS3, and Xbox 360, Modern Warfare 3 will feature achievements, dedicated servers, offline play and auto-updates courtesy of the Steamworks service.

Steamworks debuted on PlayStation 3 earlier this year with Portal 2, but the press release doesn’t confirm whether the console version will also support the service.

Interestingly, Modern Warfare 3’s big rival this year, Battlefield 3 will not be coming to Steam. Electronic Arts blames Steam’s “restrictive terms of service.” Users will instead have to sign up to an Origin account and won’t enjoy the features of the Steamworks service.

Well it's partial good news, I suppose. Not for me: the game I don't want to play on the service I want to use. Still big thumbs down to EA for their stance on BF3. Might concentrate more on my other hobbies this autumn instead of gaming.
i really don't get what the big deal is
if all your games are on steam then you could buy BF3 and leave the disc in..hell i bet you have 2 drives anyway
or you could just install origin, i can't understand all this complaining about having another program running, if your computer is so bad as to not run comfortably with multiple background apps then it won't be good enough to play new games anyway P

If you can't understand the problem, don't dismiss it or belittle it.

I'm glad for you that your preference is covered. Mine is not, hence my statement.

You have to use Origin. And let it poke around your hard drive. EA should stop meddling. Leave the game to the developers. PR and funding is your job.
Shouldn't the headline read that Dedicated Servers are coming back? Surely thats more interesting, how they have done a u-turn.
