SEGA has confirmed that a new title born from the Sonic franchise will be released next Spring, exclusively on Wii.

The furry blue mammal and his pals will appear in Sonic and The Black NIght, the next instalment in the storybook series of games that kicked off with Sonic and the Secret Rings.

This time around the storyline will be set against the backdrop of Arthurian legend, a place where Sonic will get the chance to become a knight.

Built specifically for Wii, SEGA says that this new action adventure will make good use of Wii's control system and will require gamers to use both the Wii Remote and Nunchuck to control the speedy hedgehog.

“After the success of Sonic and the Secret Rings we’re delighted to announce a second title in the Storybook Series,” said Gary Knight, European Marketing Director, SEGA Europe, “Following Sonic on his way to knighthood will excite players of all ages.”

Sonic and his friends are among the most recognisable icons in video games. Since his birth 15 years ago, Sonic The Hedgehog has spanned several generations of video game systems, appearing in over 30 games that have sold more than 38 million units of software.
