Finishing off

When everything seems okay, it’s time to preview the project. This can be done from the timeline and there are virtual DVD player controls to help check-out the structure.

Using Studio's DVD player controls to preview a project

Studio's standard on-screen preview monitor is small but it’s useful for inspecting work before burning to disc. Version 9, though, adds a welcome option of previewing full-screen.

Although blank DVDs are cheap, it still makes sense to burn the first copy to a rewritable DVD – rewritables can be used over and over again. That way, you've not wasted a disc if you miss something during the preview that seriously affects the look or feel of the finished project.

As with editing of video footage, how good the final DVD interfaces looks and works will depend largely on your own creativity and the amount of time you're willing or able to spend on the task – but Studio does provide the tools to create stunning-looking DVDs. Enjoy!

I have an external enclosure that runs on both firewire & USB and it never shuts off alone, so is yours a problem with windows or the drive itself?
windows i believe
ooi does the drive still shut down if you select the ‘Always On’ scheme from within XP's ‘Power Schemes’ ‘Control Panel’ applet?
yup. i mean it boots back up again as soon as u ask it. but i dont want it to keep shutting down so quickly as it cant be good for the drive
