It has been a fascinating week for Microsoft. When CEO Satya Nadella took to the stage at Wednesday's Windows 10 event, he did so with a sense of humility as he spoke openly about his passion for tech and his company's desire to rekindle the enthusiasm of consumers.
"We want to move from people needing Windows to choosing Windows, to loving Windows," said Nadella at a two-hour conference in which Microsoft attempted to capture our imagination with bold new strategies and innovations.
Windows 10 will be a free upgrade for most PC users, it'll run on a broad range of devices including phones and the Xbox One, it's being built around community feedback, there's a new browser, a digital assistant and yet it also claims to be Microsoft's "best enterprise platform ever." Oh, and let's not forget the jaw-dropping HoloLens.
This seems to be a new and ambitious Microsoft, and one that wants to be loved in a way that other tech companies are. But that's something easier said than done after recent missteps. When consumers look at products such as Windows 8, Xbox One, Surface, Windows Phone and, to a much lesser extent, Zune, it's usually with a sense of derision, and not necessarily because the products are/were bad, but rather, they just aren't perceived as cool.
Changing that perception is a major task, so to find out if Microsoft is on the right track, we're putting the question to you: are you excited about Windows 10? Let us know using the comments facility below.
