The Top Three!

3. Advance Wars: Dual Strike

Advance Wars: Dual Strike is a turn-based tactics videogame which benefits from the Nintendo DS's unique functions in a great way allowing dual screen battles raging in two locations at the same time, and the touch screen control empowering you to precisely control your troops.

Advance Wars: Dual Strike offers five different single player game modes. The main single player campaign mode features many exciting missions, where players defend Wars World against the invasion and occupation of the Black Hole army. The wireless function also enables up to eight players to play head to head at any one time, allowing you to battle it out with your friends and decide who the greatest general is.

Two brand-new modes feature exclusively in this game; the survival mode - where players try to win as many battles as they can with limited resources, and a combat mode - where players control their units' movement in a real time battle.

2. Mario Kart DS

The acclaimed Mario Kart went wireless in Mario Kart DS, letting players race and battle with up to eight karts at once, regardless of whether everyone has a game card. An all-star cast that includes Mario, Luigi, Peach, Yoshi, Donkey Kong, Wario, Bowser and Toad round off the all-star lineup of more than 30 courses drawn from every Mario Kart game. Players tour courses from Super Mario Kart, Mario Kart 64, Mario Kart: Super Circuit and Mario Kart : Double Dash, not to mention brand-new tracks and arenas. With all the crazy items and frantic speed players have come to expect, this game is a Mario Kart fan's dream. The game has a new dimension of fun, since players can battle others around the world by connecting to Nintendo's new wireless gaming service, Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection, via Wi-Fi.

1. New Super Mario Bros

The power of the Super Mario franchise has won over our readers and there's no denying that the first side-scrolling Super Mario Bros adventure since Super Mario World deserves its place at number one. Super Mario Bros is an entirely new adventure, in which our heroes must once again travel across the Mushroom Kingdom to rescue Princess Peach from the scaly clutches of Bowser and his minions.

It features huge vivid 2D worlds inspired by those from the classic Mario adventures, but combined with beautifully rendered 3D characters which almost seem to jump out of the screen. Each world has a different theme and features multiple levels, which must be completed before progressing to the next one. Players must also master each world's mini fortress and beat a boss character before they can progress onto the next world. Only after defeating all of the bosses is a character ready to take on the ultimate challenge of Bowser himself.

not so sure about #3 AW: DS. It's ok but there are other better games out (like Castlevania).

Have to admit, never played AW. Didn't think it would poll so high. And I hope it wasn't you HEXUS readers who were voting for Nintendogs! Shame on you.
Damn shame that Sonic Rush isn't in there. It is definitely one of the best i have played.
Hmm.

I think one of the main problems with the DS is that many of the best games aren't released here in the UK/EU (whether they think we don't have a sense of humour or something) - games like Elite Beat Agents, Tingle RPG (not to mention the games that take months to arrive over here).

As for the results of the poll, it doesn't surprise me - Mario was pretty certainly going to come out near the top. Mario Kart too, a known favourite. I like AW, but it wouldn't put in in the top three, i would put Contact higher up definitely. Hotel Dusk was one of the best releases in a loong time, it must be one of the few games that actually showcases the DS features in all their glory.

I guess what i'm trying to say is that i think we're too drawn in by the major games series' - yes, i agree, Mario and Zelda are fantastic, but they're not necesarily the best.
Yeah, I'd have Hotel Dusk in the Top Ten. Elite Beat Agents is due out in June here!
